Authority Makes LinkedIn Content Shine: How to Conquer Sharing Insights
Jun 17, 2024Establishing authority in your industry is much easier than you think, when you know how. And as I told many account exec back in my days in Ad Land, it's not the report, it's how you interpret it for your client that counts.
So are you sharing industry insights to showcase your expertise and thought leadership?
In this article, I'll walk you through practical steps on how to craft and share compelling posts that position you as a trusted authority on LinkedIn.
1. Crafting Your Post:
Identify Relevant Topics that your clients need now: What are the industry trends, challenges, or innovations that resonate with your audience and align with your expertise?
- Are you using tools like Google Trends?
- Or website Ask the Public?
- If your business aligns with a professional body, can you share their articles?
Provide Value: How can it help them? Offer actionable insights, practical solutions, or unique perspectives that address common pain points or emerging issues in your industry.
Make it Yours: Share anecdotes, case studies, or personal experiences to humanize your insights and connect with your audience on a deeper level.
- With the rise of artificial intelligence and the "expert" culture, people appreciate knowing what the details of the steps you took were.
- People want to know exactly how you used information to improve your business. They're not interested in untested information.
2. Writing Your Post:
Compelling Headline: It's gotta hook them in! Craft a catchy headline that grabs attention and clearly communicates the value proposition of your post. Here are a few to try:
- Stop making this mistake...
- The tip I used to get from X to Y
- I never thought I'd say this in public
Set the scene for why it matters: Hook your audience with a compelling introduction that sets the stage for what they can expect from the rest of the post.
Clear Structure: Organize your post into digestible sections with subheadings, bullet points, or numbered lists to enhance readability and comprehension.
Especially if there's data involved in the insights you are sharing.
- If you're sharing lots of data, think about presenting it as a PDF Carousel format.
Call to Action: Conclude your post with a clear call to action, such as inviting readers to share their thoughts, ask questions, or engage in further discussion.
3. Designing Your Post:
Visual Elements: Images, particularly original photos will help you to stand out from everyone else. Think about how you can use Infographics, or videos, to complement your written content and increase engagement.
Branding helps build recall: Use consistent branding elements, such as colors, fonts, and logos, to reinforce your brand identity and create a cohesive look across your posts. If you are using templates from Canva or that you've bought on Etsy make sure that you adapt them so that you don't look like everyone else.
Whitespace: Utilize white space effectively to create breathing room and improve overall visual appeal and readability. Think designer store rather than bargain basement when you're creating your posts.
4. Sharing Your Post on LinkedIn:
Optimize for LinkedIn: Ensure your post is optimized for the LinkedIn platform by using relevant hashtags (not too many 3 to 5 max), tagging relevant individuals or companies, and put a link to any resource in the first comment.
Be a good host with your posts! Monitor comments and respond promptly to foster meaningful discussions and deepen connections with your audience.
By following these practical suggestions, you can create and share compelling posts that position you as a trusted authority in your industry, attract new clients, and elevate your brand on LinkedIn. Start sharing your industry insights today and watch your influence soar!
